Research Forum 2022

The 21st Annual Medical Student Research Forum was held on Monday, November 21, 2022 in the Health Science Learning Center. This event showcased the research accomplishments of the majority of SMPH students, who conducted research under the mentorship of UW faculty mentors during the summer between their first and second year of medical school. More than 130 students presented their work through podium and poster presentations, and congratulations are in order to the winners of the Excellence in Student Research Award:

      • Brendan Dolan (Mentor: Jason Abel, Urology), who presented in Session A.
      • Kathy Nguyen (Mentor: Dawn Davis, Medicine), who presented in Session B.
      • Manlu Liu (Mentor: Andrew Baschnagel, Human Oncology), who presented in Session C.
      • Rishil Mehta (Mentor: Huy Dinh, Oncology), who presented in Session D.

      • Dean Golden’s Opening Remarks and Introduction of the winner of the Dean’s Excellence in Medical Student Research Mentorship award
      • Shapiro Guest Lecture: Dr. David Jarrard, Urology. Title: ‘Why have we not yet cured cancer?’
