Student Research at SMPH

Research Forum 2023

The 22nd Annual Medical Student Research Forum was held on Monday, November 20, 2023 in the Health Science Learning Center. This event showcased the research accomplishments of the majority of SMPH students, who conducted research under the mentorship of UW faculty mentors during the summer between their first and second year of medical school. More than 140 students presented their work through podium and poster presentations, and congratulations are in order to the winners of the Excellence in Student Research Award:

      • Jenny Klein (Mentor: Kim Lansing, MD, Family Medicine), who presented in Session A.
      • Camille Phillips (Mentor: Laura Hanks, MD, Obstetrics and Gynecology), who presented in Session B.
      • Amy Frenkel  (Mentor: Luke Lamers, MD, Pediatrics), who presented in Session C.
      • Josh Verhagen (Mentor: Tony Kille ,MD, Surgery), who presented in Session D.
