Student Research at SMPH

Research Forum 2024

The 23rd Annual Medical Student Research Forum was held on Monday, November 25, 2024 in the Health Science Learning Center. This event showcased the research accomplishments of the majority of SMPH students, who conducted research under the mentorship of UW faculty mentors during the summer between their first and second year of medical school. More than 130 students presented their work through podium and poster presentations, and congratulations are in order to the winners of the Excellence in Student Research Award:

  • Hannah Kreuser (A Novel Murine Model of Acute Laryngeal Injury After Intubation), who presented in Session A.
  • Kayla Sifre (Changes in Kidney Oxygenation in Preterm Neonates with Acute Kidney Injury), who presented in Session B.
  • Carol Wann (Impact of Vaping and Marijuana Use on the Development of Thyroid Eye Disease), who presented in Session C.
  • Abigail Keller (Diagnostic Performance of Breast Imaging for Pregnant and Lactating Patients), who presented in Session D.

We would also like to recognize the following podium presenters with an honorable mention for their outstanding oral presentations: Gina Krause, Madison Seifer, Suseela Raj, and Amanda Webb.
